Generation Des Moines
A great American city provides opportunity and a better life for everyone who is and wants to be part of that community. Providing opportunity for everyone requires a growing city that is accessible and connects neighborhoods and people to jobs and services. A city that provides opportunity has a strong core that is connected to strong, vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. New development in the urban core and along transit corridors that stretch into neighborhoods is environmentally sustainable development. It allows everyone in our community to thrive because affordable housing is connected to jobs, child care, health care, grocery stores, parks and other amenities while being accessible via transit, by bike and by walking. And it is a way for us to support the city services we need.
If we create a vibrant growing city, not only is it a great place to live, but it is a city that can support our future and our potential. It is a city that provides every child regardless of background the opportunity for a better future. It is a resilient and sustainable city. It is a city that we can all be proud of, and it is a city that people will choose as a place to live, work, and raise a family.
Accomplishments
Josh Mandelbaum is currently serving his second term on the Des Moines City Council. Des Moines is one of the best places to live in the entire country. During Josh’s term, Des Moines has continued to grow and thrive while tackling long-standing problems.
Josh has taken on hard fights to tackle issues of climate, housing, accessibility, public safety, and public health. From his first day on the council, he has been an outspoken voice in favor of progressive policy that will help working people in Des Moines. He brings his background in environmental law and deep community ties to legislating, and is excited to continue work on these issues and more during his second term.
